June, 1982 – The First Lebanon War. A lone tank and a paratroopers platoon are dispatched to search a hostile town – a simple mission that turns into a nightmare. A tank crew and their casual camaraderie changes when the war starts, presenting real dangers and dilemnas that require instant decisions that have horrifying implications and real world consequences. The fear and doubt that mark their thoughts and decisions are the universal traumas of warfighting. Winner of the Venice Film Festival’s prestigious Golden Lion in 2009.
Lebanon hits limited theaters on August 13th, 2010.
Moviefone gives us the trailer for the new Rob Reiner film Flipped. The romantic comedy, written by Reiner and Andrew Scheinman, is about the bumpy relationship of a pair of eighth-graders that takes place between 1957 and 1963. The cast includes Rebecca De Mornay, Madeline Carroll, Aidan Quinn, Penelope Ann Miller, Anthony Edwards. Flipped skips its way into theaters everywhere on August 6th from Castle Rock Entertainment and Warner Bros Pictures.
Focus Features has debuted the first trailer for The American over on Yahoo, which looks really intense. Anton Corbijn (Control) directed this adaptation of the Martin Booth novel A Very Private Gentleman, which depicts an aging assassin (Clooney) who vows the next assignment will be his last.
Here’s the official plot synopsis:
Alone among assassins, Jack is a master craftsman. When a job in Sweden ends more harshly than expected for this American abroad, he vows to his contact Larry that his next assignment will be his last. Jack reports to the Italian countryside, where he holes up in a small town and relishes being away from death for a spell. The assignment, as specified by a Belgian woman, Mathilde, is in the offing as a weapon is constructed. Surprising himself, Jack seeks out the friendship of local priest Father Benedetto and pursues romance with local woman Clara. But by stepping out of the shadows, Jack may be tempting fate.
The American is slated for a limited release starting September 1, 2010.
From seeing this latest trailer I have to say I am totally looking forward th this movie. The FX and Cinematography look incredible. It’s nice to see M. NIght do something else. He needs a hit since his films haven’t done so well in the past. Hope the acting is as good as it looks but I have my doubts. Too bad they didn’t do this 5yrs ago because Boo Boo Stewart would have been perfect for this role…
Kuky Returns is the story of a boy six Ondra, who suffers from asthma, and so on “health reasons” must be off his favorite toy – a pink bear kuky. When mom Kukyho throw in the trash, it will work Ondrová fantasy in which experienced Kukyho adventure in an unknown natural world. It’s really just a dream a little boy or kuky actually went to the biggest adventure of his plush life.
Kuky Returns is an adventure, a poetic family story in which the main role, however, take the heroes of children’s fantasy worldwhere the only heroes are the puppets. “I thought then change the scale and place the story directly into the microcosm, his protagonists make small enough that the roots of the tree decorations, light in the atmosphere made raspberry leaves, fuzz was all the props and extras natural insects,” says Jan Sverak, who is also the author scenarios and as with most of his recent films also the producer.
I think this looks very well made and very scary. I look forward to seeing this film…Film is due out June 4, 2010.
